The product is good for the price, but the power of transmiter is low and has a lot of interference. The result is a low volume with a little noise.
I have owned a few FM transmitters through the years. This is one of the poorer ones I have used. Signal is quite weak. Also the charging system does work, but your iPhone 3G will quickly point out to you that this is not a standard accessory. I’m looking for a new FM transmitter and charger now.
I can only assume that I got this same transmitter/charger as I got mine new on Ebay and it was a non-namer, but it looks 100% exactly the same. It was great for a few weeks, giving mostly decent sound with a little bit of static at times and it charged my iPhone while I was listening to music in my car. Fast forward to a month later, and this is where the quality (or lack of) really shows. This device no longer charges my iPhone once connected, occasionally working if you twist the cord to that one sweet spot. The sound is now terrible, and the audio only comes out of the right car speaker with the left dropping in and out. My guess is that this is going to totally die in the next week or so.
The pros are it works off of the iphone battery and you can change the frequency with the side buttons to a wide range of stations. It also remembers the last station used so you only have to set it once.
The main con is that it only works for a week or two before the poor quality kicks in and your left wishing that you spent a few extra dollars on a quality item instead of this garbage.
This product works just as well as the $75 one I bought from Best Buy. I’m hoping to return the one I bought from Best Buy so I can buy another one of these. The sound quality is great, it’s easy to use, and it was cheap! This product shipped quickly and works with applications like Pandora and ESPN radio (have to play something from the iPod app first, though). I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.
