This case is secure, functional and attractive. It is well worth the discounted price.
Secure:
There is a elasticized band inside the top right corner of the cover, which secures the iPad inside the case when the cover is open. The band partially covers the power switch, but I don’t find that it interferes with the use of the button.
Function:
1) Stand: The stand has multiple slots, but they do not provide a great deal of variation in viewing – more like adjusting the view to eliminate glare. The stand is secured to the closed case by means of a hidden magnet, which works for me.
2) Closure: The snap at the top right holds the cover closed. When open, one can bend the cover back behind the iPad and use the snap to hold the cover open.
3) Screen Access: the frame of the cover slightly overlaps the edge of the iPad’s screen. So far, I’ve only found this to interfere when I attempt to move icons from one screen to another – I have to lift the cover so I can slide my finger off the side of the screen to get to the next page. Not a big deal to me.
Leather:
The cover appears to me to be bonded leather [...]
– which may be offputting to some people who need the luxurious feel of leather (or who have paid full price). This cover feels more ‘plasticky’ (and therefore durable) than pure leather, but for the discounted price and for my needs, it is great.
love. this case…wasn’t sure how I would be using my new iPad so waited avweek to order. it is perfect. fits the pad like a glove, is secure. all connections are available when it is in the case. it has a small inside pocket…perfect to hold a screen cleaner. the material…leather and color…red are perfect. and the stand built in is perfect for when it is on my desk,,,,highly recommend
With shipping it was only $15….can’t beat that price. I really like the stand and the color. The only thing I don’t like is that when you have the case open and are using the stand, the snap is just open and the top of the case is very open.
I wanted a case cover with a stand for my IPAD and the Apple Store was too expensive. This one was inexpensive and great. The red color is attractive. I love it!
Overall: Considering the price of this case, it is fine. It is relatively secure, though I do find myself having to slightly adjust the iPad every so often. Since this is my first and only case at the moment, I can’t speak to whether or not this is common, but it I compare it to other sleeves I have for other devices (phone, iPod), it does not hold as tightly or as well.
It may not be obvious but the black rectangle on the cover is a piece of plastic with shallow grooves intended to hold the magnetic tab so that the iPad can sit upright. This works reasonably well, but the tab doesn’t attach, so if you’re holding your iPad on you lap, you may find that you have to secure it while you move.
A couple of nits: doesn’t have pockets like other holders I’ve seen, the “brass” button/tab is cheap looking and while I am no expert, the case doesn’t smell or feel like leather to me. I would bet it is vinyl. Then again, for $11, what do you expect? The red is nice, at least.
