I decided to buy this because my other laptop fan’s wiring went belly up. I thought this would be a good one to get because of the positive comments on it and it was quite cheap, but cheap is the word here. It just is not up for the job. I am using this right now and although my laptop is not burning hot, it if much warmer than I want it to be. I have a 15.6 inch HP laptop and I run it in varying lengths of time. From the start it just does not work well enough to keep my laptop cool. The fans are exposed just enough that you want to be careful because it may not make you bleed but it WILL hurt. Also the edges of this thing are kind of sharp so don’t hold on to it too hard. The USB connection has the extender on it so you can still use that spot but it pokes out about 1 ½ inches and the metal on the edge of it is also kind of sharp. Just don’t put yourself through the unnecessary pain of trying this out.
Very simple fan unit, but provides the cooling as expected. The LED lights are a great conversation piece!
The cooling tower works wonderful. Its lightweight and very very quiet. you cant even hear it. Its tilted at the perfect angle and comfort for typing. Not to mention the LED lights make it really cool looking. Its an excellent product for very cheap
The product for its low price is good. The fans produce very nice air to blow away the heat generated by the laptop. I can’t care much for the transparent plastic plate on which the fans are mounted. It works.
The one critical and important aspect that I don’t like about this product is, the lower side of the plate is open. And the suction cup like shoes (not suction but shaped similarly), are not tall enough. When the laptop is placed on the lap, the fan blades touch your lap and stop immediately on contact.
I overcome this problem by placing the product on top of my older laptop pad from targus. The latter does not work but serves as a mount for the current product. It certainly is annoying to mount a pad over a pad and having to carry it around from room to room. Also, when the shoes slide a bit to the left or right / front or back, the fan blades touch the lower pad and stop spinning.
I guess I can’t complain in view of its price. One solution would be to take a sturdy card board and stick the shoes to it.
