Beware misleading information. This is DisplayPort 1.1a compliant but 1.2 is required for audio. Like another poster said; works beautifully for video but NOT audio. I have tried this is a Westinghouse TV, Sony TV, and Pioneer receiver as well.
This adapter does not work for sound on the 2010 MacBook Pro 17″. It is not compliant with the VESA v1.1a DisplayPort Interoperability Guidelines as the description states that it is. I have even talked to Apple, and they have tested this on my computer – it is not a workable feature. It does pass the video signal, but not audio. Bad advertisement folks.
The mini Display Port to HDMI was advertised as fitting the Apple Macbook. It does not the Macbook has a different type port. This was of no use to me.
